JOB SUMMARY:

The FCC is an independent United States government agency, directly responsible to Congress. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.

These positions are located in various Bureau/ Office Relocation expenses will not be paid.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Serve a probationary period of one year, if applicable
US Citizenship
Suitable for employment as determined by a background investigation.
Must submit a financial disclosure statement upon assuming the position
Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with Selective Service
Resume/CV;transcripts;writing sample; and 2 letters of recommendation

DUTIES:

Conducts comprehensive research in Microeconomics and analysis involving technical and economic aspects of the telecommunications and/or media industries and regulation thereof. Determines, initiates, and selects topics for Microeconomics analysis together with objectives to be achieved and plans and methods to be employed. Develops narrative, statistical, and/or graphical reports of research and analysis, including pertinent policy recommendations. Provides expert technical advice on Commission rulemaking proceedings, including evaluation of the validity and significance of Microeconomic analyses submitted to the Commission. Reviews and critiques draft decisions prepared by other Commission staff. Conducts Microeconomic analyses of market structure, agent behavior, and performance and may be called upon to assess the current state of the agency's regulatory program, identifying areas of adverse regulatory impact on the public, the industry, or the economy as a whole. These projects often require the incumbent to work with other professional staff, e.g., lawyers, engineers, statisticians, and computer programmers. May be called upon to design Microeconomic models to test hypotheses relevant to her/his Microeconomic analyses.
